Signs it’s time to integrate Magento & SAP
Change is difficult in large, multinational organizations. When it comes to ecommerce for SAP, many companies end up with a first (or third) foray into ecommerce that simply doesn’t work out. There are many reasons ecommerce projects fail—or, as we like to put it, there are many symptoms of ecommerce-itis.
In this article, we’ll talk about 4 common symptoms of ecommerce-itis. In each case, we’ll explore how integrating Magento and SAP can set you on the road to good ecommerce health.
Symptom 1: You already have an ecommerce solution, but no one is using it
This is a classic sign that your ecommerce solution is critically ill. If no one is using it, including both customers and internal users, then something is wrong. The solution is too difficult to work with, provides inaccurate data, creates order errors, or some similar problem.
Stagnation in user growth (or negative user growth) usually happens for one of two reasons:
- Zero integration between SAP and ecommerce.
- Problematic integration between SAP and ecommerce.
Remedy: Integrate Magento & SAP for seamless user experience
When you launch a Magento-SAP integration through Corevist, you get a best-of-breed ecommerce store (Magento) loaded with real, live data from your SAP ERP system. That’s critical data for closing the sale—things like contract pricing, quantity price breaks, inventory availability, and more.
Symptom 2: In-house staff are learning ecommerce maintenance on the job (and struggling to keep up)
Where are the experts in SAP ecommerce integration? (Hint: We’re right here! 😊) It’s incredibly difficult to add that kind of expertise to your staff. Many companies try to use existing internal resources to sort out the difficulties of integration, but this strategy is problematic. Integrating ecommerce to SAP requires a deep knowledge both of the ecommerce platform, and of SAP.
That’s a rare combination in one individual. (Hint: That’s why Corevist exists—we bring together staff with Magento expertise and SAP expertise. They live and breathe Magento-SAP integration every day so you don’t have to.)
If your existing Marketing and IT staff are struggling to maintain your ecommerce integration, that may be a sign of critical illness.
Remedy: Integrate with Corevist for hands-free SAP ecommerce
Fully 1/3 of our clients have no resources on staff dedicated to supporting their Corevist Commerce store. Yes, that’s a crazy stat—but we make it a reality. Our secret? A well-architected solution that’s fully integrated to SAP out of the box.
Symptom 3: Your ecommerce platform isn’t scaling up
You’ve made the decision to launch ecommerce on a certain platform, but now it’s not scaling. You can’t accommodate the growing requirements of your users (both customers and internal users). The growing complexities are getting beyond your means.
People always tiptoe into ecommerce—and they find the fastest, best, cheapest way to tiptoe into it. But all too often, they don’t have a mile marker set up on Day 1 to say, “1-3 years down the road, if we pass this mile marker and it’s not working out, we have to punt!”
No one wants to launch a project with that mindset. It’s so negative, right? Let’s not go there!
That’s why ecommerce-itis sneaks up on people. All of a sudden they’re stuck with a platform that won’t scale. Now they have to re-platform.
Remedy: Integrate with Corevist Commerce for fully scalable SAP ecommerce
The beauty of Corevist’s Magento-SAP integration is its scalability. You can reuse the same basic Corevist instance to bring new product lines and new storefronts to the web. You shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel every time you acquire another brand or expand your customer base. Corevist is built to ensure that your investment with us scales into new markets.
Symptom 4: You’re dumping good money into a Rube Goldberg machine
This usually happens when someone bought an ecommerce solution from the perspective of vanity. After many months (sometimes years), they still haven’t gotten it off the ground and implemented. They’re throwing more and more resources at it, essentially dumping good money into bad money.
This is a really tough place to be. Sometimes, people will keep throwing money at this problem for a long time, just to save face. They continue to add levers and wheels and pulleys to their Rube Goldberg ecommerce architecture, hoping for that magic day when it all works out.
The sad reality is, it usually doesn’t work out in these situations. The solution was too big, too ambitious, too much for a first ecommerce launch.
Remedy: Integrate Magento to SAP with Corevist
Our Magento-SAP integration is about as far from a Rube Goldberg machine as you can get. With our real-time integration sitting between Magento & SAP, your users get live SAP data displayed in ecommerce—and live order posting to SAP, too. Here’s what it looks like conceptually:
The reason Corevist works so well? We put your SAP system at the core of ecommerce through our out-of-the-box integration. That saves you from data duplication and syncing. It makes the whole machine lean and simple.
